This session explores how right-wing extremists have targeted students and educators,  both causing trauma and exploiting pre-existing trauma. By focusing on hot button issues, like Critical Race Theory, white supremacists and hate groups, like the Proud Boys, have gained access to youth for recruitment and to sow division in educational settings. This session also explores how the practice of mindfulness can interrupt the efforts of extremists. Presented to the Oregon City School District Equity Conference.
