What is the science that links social biases and trauma? How can marginalized populations experience similar psychological experiences as returning war veterans? What is Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome? And how can we build safe work environments that create space for healing instead of hurting? This two hour workshop explores the new science of trauma and how it is connected to forms of bias, like racism. Topics discussed include internalized white supremacy, implicit bias, micro-aggression, and bias incidents. The focus is on creating healing environments that are safe and resilient to the wounding harm of bias. The workshop relies on recent sociological and cognitive behavioral research to explore the knew knowledge on cumulative trauma. Presented to the Bonneville Power Administration.
